Since we have been learning about how important it is to increase our pH level, more and more are asking what can we eat? Well, even though eating foods with a high alkalinity is good for you...you still want to eat some foods that are acidic. We want to find a balance between the two.

I recently found two very good charts that easily display the types of foods that are both acid and alkaline. I think both of these charts are done very well, you may want to print off a copy to hang on your refrigerator -- or take with you to the grocery store.

The following website contains a chart that not only lists the acid/alkaline foods but also gives the pH level for each type of food. As an example, lemons and watermelon have a very high pH of 9.0 but carbonated beverages, beef and artificial sweeteners have a low pH of 5.0. This chart also has tips and comments on many of the foods listed, such as fresh garlic (pH 8.0) helps to raise the acid foods in an alkaline direction. This site is well worth reading.
Find this chart at:
GreatHealth247.com- The chart has an introduction of how to purchase the correct pH test strips and papers. Many make the mistake of purchasing test strips that are intended for testing pool or aquarium water and so their pH reading is in error.

The next chart is organized a little bit differently. It is very easy to read and divided into 9 categories of foods from High Alkaline to High Acid. Find this chart at the following site:
trans4mind.com - Scroll down about halfway to find the chart.

Remember that although you can test your pH at any time of day, the absolute best reading is taken with your saliva upon rising in the morning -- before you have eaten or drank anything. Even though you may have increased your intake of alkaline foods it can take your body a couple of days before the reading from the pH strip starts to improve.

Purchase pH Test Strips online at:
http://store.yahoo.com/herbal-remedies-usa/ph-test-strip.html - Test range is 4.5 to 9.0 -strips easier to use than paper - suitable for testing both urine or saliva.
